Kettlebell Swing Exercise Basics
Kettlebells have been around for many years but the popularity of them in America may be at an all time high and for good reason. They produce results and they are a fun challenging training tool to use. There are hundreds of exercises that can be done with them but one of the most important to learn and master when starting out with kettlebells is the swing. The swing can lead you into many different exercises but if not executed properly; it will be very hard to learn a lot of the other training techniques.
You can use the swing as a stand alone exercise done for number of repetitions or for a prescribed amount of time. I like both depending on the program I am doing. There are also many variations of the swing:
*Two Hand Single Kettlebell Swing
*Single Hand Single Kettlebell Swing
*Alternating Single Hand Single Kettlebell Swing
*Double Kettlebell Swing (one Kettlebell in each hand)
There are other variations but those are the most common and basic of swings. Technique does play a major role and should not be over looked. It takes a little practice to learn proper body positioning but most people learn them very quickly. I have been using kettlebells with my athletes and clients for years and for many training purposes. I do not believe kettlebells should replace all other training equipment but they can be and should be another tool for your training tool box to add great variety into your training program. If you have any comments or questions regarding kettlebell training; please feel free to post them in the comments or forum sections of the website and I will make sure you get the answers you are seeking.
